àexcept for ôWe all know what exactly everyone means by pvp. We all mean combat. If we don't mean combat, we don't say pvp.ö So yes you did.
If you read that comment just a little better you'll see that I said "We all mean combat" in reguards to the term pvp. That statment didn't say at all the the term refers only to combat, but only that the term is used to suggest combat.
I love how none of ya'll had a comment for pve centric.
Maybe it's cause it made sense.. Instead, ya'll are trolling on the earlier things I've said cause they're a little easier for ya'll to pick at.
#1 - welcome to where I was in Feb. 2008. I really wish I could find the quote from "back in the day" on *why* everything in game is the way it is. Basically it came down to the original devs wanted a "pvp game". A game where *everything* was player contested. A game where "pvp" didn't just include combat, but that incorporated *all* aspects of player vs player interaction and thus, Eve is, in a very real sense "pvp centric".
PVP as a term has been evolving since I first came across it in some nameless M U D that I have since forgotten the name of (it was 20? 25 years ago?). Back then pvp was known as "PK'ing" (player killing) and was generally frowned upon. Nowadays, even wikipedia is describing pvp as : Player versus player, or PvP, is a type of multiplayer interactive conflict within a game between two or more live participants.[1] This is in contrast to games where players compete against computer controlled opponents, which is correspondingly referred to as player versus environment (PvE). The terms are most often used in games where both activities exist,[2] particularly MMORPGs, CORPGs, MUDs and other role-playing video games. PvP can be broadly used to describe any game, or aspect of a game, where players compete against each other.
Now, I understand where your coming from because I was there too at one time. Notwithstanding that however, doesn't change the fact that yes, Eve has been designed (from the start) to be pvp centric.
To the OP: You can very easily avoid *most* pvp in Hi-Sec. Using an alt - make an "alt corp". Any time you get wardec'd, hop to new corp. CCP has said, very clearly, that players may enter or leave a corp at any time, for any reason. Corps may also be disbanded or created, at any time, for any reason.
PVP shouldn't be an issue for you. Corps cost a minor sum to create, and it only takes a day (maybe two) to make a couple place holder alts to make corps to hop to. Because the fastest a war dec vote can go through is 24 hours plus the 24 notification period - you get the notification of a wardec, then @ 23 hours into it, you change corp. The Dec'r then has to enter another vote (24 hours) and enter another notification perior (24 hours). It is easy therefor to avoid "war decs".
Hope that run on sentence helped at all...
